Heather Carlson:

Sit with me
Sit with me, the mountain is a solitary giant,
a wise giant, rooted in the moving sea, the
living sea.

Sit with me, the earth will always be a
wise giant, a solitary giant, floating in the
cosmos with the moon as its closest friend.

I know the moon and the Earth have
lived in harmony like a solitary giant, a wise
giant, rooted in the moving sea, the living sea.

Loveliest of what I leave behind
is the velvet sand beneath my feet,
and loveliest after that is the bubbling
river and moving fast ground,
but also tea that has aged, the warmth
of a smile, and starshine.
