Monsters Under the Bed
"Mom, mom, please don't make me go in there. You know there are monsters under
the bed, just waiting to eat us." I futilely tried to explain the situation, as I clamped onto
everything in sight. My mom released my grip, as I inched closer to death.
"Here Jeff, no groaning and go to sleep." the momentt of truth came as it did every night.
I shut off the light and hoped to hit my jump perfectly. One of four things would happen
as I jumped onto my bunkbeds. I would fall short which would mean certain death.
I would jump high and crash into the top bunk, which would mean severe pain and
certain death. I would jump straight through, where I would be snatched up instantly by
the monsters.
Tonight I ended up jumping straight through. On the short 2-3 ft drop, which seemed endless,
I saw my life flash before my eyes. I asked myself why my bed wasn't up against the wall.
Suddenly, I felt something grab me. My brother quickly pushed me aside as he rolled out
from under my bed. In his salesman imitation he offered monster protection. He barely had
time to tell me all the advantages of his offer, before he snatched up all my money. . . .
